It comprises of a huge area segregated into different parts. The animal and bird lives that have been incorporated here in this zoo have been collected from different parts of the world. The zoo is a vibrant place and a thrilling one too, children are very much acclaimed to this place. There are several sections in the zoo divided on the basis of different species of animals. You can find an aviary section, a butterfly section and a reptilian section too. The aviary section comprises of different birds, collected from different parts of the world. Even the reptilian section is also well maintained with different species of snakes and crocodiles and alligators. The total land area of this zoo is around 35 acres. The most exciting place in the zoo is the marine section. Here you can eye witness various kinds of marine lives. So, altogether the Dehiwela Zoological Garden is one of the most popular zoos in Asia, with its different variants of animal and bird lives. The Zoo opens at 8 am and closes at 6pm. Every day from 5:15 onwards an elephant show starts.
